Tarot Card Individual Meanings
Looking for tarot card individual meanings?
When you are getting started with tarot cards, one of the first things that you will want to do is work with the individual meanings of each
card. For most of us, this means starting out with the meanings that are usually included with the cards themselves. It is fairly easy to find
the usual interpretations in this way, or online as well. In every tarot deck, you'll have the same sort of cards, but frequently, you'll find
that the cards themselves will give you a clue.
Take, for example, the card of the Fool. Marked as 0, he represents new starts, fresh beginnings and a certain sort of heedlessness. When you
take a look at the card itself, you will find that the Fool, is often represented by a young man starting off with a pack on his back, not
looking where he is going and not paying attention at all. This is a fairly standard individual meaning of the card itself, but you should look
beyond it.
Take a look at your own tarot deck; it doesn't matter which one you have. Take a close look at it, pull out a card and before you look up the
meaning, look at what the picture is trying to say. Read the nuances in the picture. There was something that the artist was trying to get across
and when you spend some time looking at the card, you will have a better idea of what that is. Taking a good look at the card will also encourage
you to get to know your deck better.
You'll also find that there is a lot of variation in how people want to read the cards. For instance, one card that is often debated among
tarot readers it the Tower, in the Major Arcana. The Tower is often seen as one of the "worst" cards in the tarot deck, representing cataclysm,
destruction and violent endings. Many people however, have sought to find the positive in it. In many renditions, the tower pictured is often
breaking apart and freeing the prisoners inside. There is pain and destruction, yes, but there is also the hope for a new beginning after the
tumult has died down.
If you are looking forward to getting to know your deck, one great way to do this is to sit down with the cards and really look at them. While
the standard definitions for the cards can help you out, you'll be able to work with the cards on a much deeper level if you start turning a
critical eye on the cards themselves.
