Different Spreads In Tarot
Looking for different spreads in tarot?
When you first get involved with tarot, you will rapidly realize that there is a wealth of meaning in each card. As you look through your
deck, you will realize that you find meaning there that might be different from what is seen traditionally, and you should feel comfortable with
that. When you are looking at your tarot deck, you will soon realize that you need to think about a way to interpret them. There are many
different spreads, and whether you pick a standard one and stick to it, or you'd rather hop to different spreads as the situation calls for it,
it's always handy to know a few basic ones.
The most simple by far is the past, present and future spread. Think about your issue and draw three cards. The first is how the issue has
affected you in the past, the second is how it is in the present and the third card features the outcome of the issue.
The Celtic cross takes this standard setup and elaborates on it. For this spread, you will draw ten cards. The first card is your current
situation and the second card represents what is currently opposing you. The third, fourth, fifth and sixth cards are your distant past, your
recent past, your near future, and the most likely outcome of your current situation. The seventh card represents your outlook and the eighth
card stands for your standing with your peers. The ninth card represents your hopes and fears while the tenth card refers to your best
outcome.
One interesting spread is the Daily Lessons spread. Rather than concentrating on a problem, this is a good spread to do on a daily or weekly
basis. First, you separate the cards out by Major and Minor Arcana. After thorough shuffles, deal out seven cards from the Major Arcana in a row,
and underneath it, deal out a row of seven cards from the Minor Arcana. The top row represents the lessons you are supposed to learn and the
lower row presents you with guidance on how to make the most of the lessons. Match the cards up, Minor Arcana to Major and think of them in
pairs.
As you can see, there are plenty of different spreads in tarot. Many enthusiasts even come up with their own, and there's no reason why you
shouldn't. Work with your tarot deck and really get a feel for it. When you're ready, plot out your own spread and see how it feels!
